I got my Ph.D. from Queen’s University Belfast and I am currently a postdoctoral research fellow of the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and a visiting fellow at the department of Music, the University of Manchester. I presently conduct a multi-sited ethnographic research on Nigerian Pentecostal worship settings in Greece, Brazil, the UK and Nigeria, and in social media environments such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Whats App. My research interests lie in the intersections of sound, religion, locality, and popular culture. My latest publications include discussions of transcendental experience and the production of locality across religious and secular contexts involving Nigerian Pentecostal orientations. I also specialize in Nigerian gospel music performance, having conducted workshops and public performances in both academic and local community settings in the United Kingdom and Brazil.
